Default Quick intro/purchasing a C7 question

Hey everyone I'm a 23 year old guy and from an early age the Corvette has been my dream and passion when it comes to vehicles. I'm about to finish a medical program in Vascular Sonography starting off with no bills, under my parents roof because they love me and don't see why I should have to go pay rent somewhere, starting out making about $65,000 a year possibly a little less possibly more. My question to you is if I've had this passion and love for this beautiful car, wouldn't you say I'm completely justified to buy a new Vette for $55,000? Big down payment and sucking up the high insurance and maintenance costs? I just want some good advice on how to get this purchase made and how I can be the smartest about it. Thank you so much!

good luck with your decision and welcome to the forum!

that said, maybe a year or two wait while you save some cash before you dive into a loan on your new Corvette would be prudent.

also, you should not have too worry about maintenance costs if you buy a new warranted car.

keep your insurance deductibles as high as you can afford

I would wait a few years. Save some money and get out on your own first. IMHO

I'm 53 years old and I'm three years from retirement...That being said I have owned three Corvettes in my lifetime, all were used......Presently have two. A 73 convertible and a 91 ZR-1.....

I would not buy new...That's just me....To me if you search around these forums you will find Vettes that are very well maintained by passionate owners...Chevy produced a lot of Vettes over the past few years.....If you buy new, once the tires hit the pavement, value goes down a lot...

Your age and starting salary are benefits right now....Sounds like your off to a great start.....Keep everything in moderation now as far as Vettes...Like I said, I would search the forums , lots of good deals out there.....

yeah ive been really thinking about that too. The only thing I'd want is that warranty that comes with the new ones.

Welcome. I tend to agree with the others - if you want a C7, find one that has barely been used and save a bunch of cash. Or, drop down to a C6 or C5 and save even more while still having a great car.
