C4 Acquired, checking in
Been reading the forum for a bit, attempting to get a handle on what I'd be looking at when this thing showed up;
The Gen 5 Camaro is my toy that I bought new. The '87 Corvette was my father's, which he bought new. I took ownership of it on 25 March, and promptly drove it the six hundredish miles home to my place.
The day he signed it over it had 25,257 miles on it. It has just over 26,000 now. Most of the driving I've done in it since it came home with me was to confirm some of the issues I'd diagnosed so far.
It largely sat in his garage between 2007 and 2014, and he'd slowly been getting it set to hand over as soon as I bought a place that had room for it.
Issues, most of the interior has come unglued over the years, it needs a tune up, the weatherstripping all needs to be replaced, and that may be it for things needing immediate attention.
The shocks might need some attention. The jury's still out there. They seem fine, functionally, but there might be a little weeping at the rears. I've cleaned everything off, and we'll see if the weeps reappear. It could have just been dirt and water in combination from the trip home.
Before Dad handed it over he had all the seals in the transmission replaced, it was leaking a small amount of transmission fluid, the torque converter needed to be replaced too, new tires put on, and some issues with the A/C corrected.
In the not too distant past, the digital dash was rebuilt. So, that's good for a while.
Cosmetically, it could use a polish. I'll take care of that before long.
So, cautiously optimistic that I'll have a nice weather cruiser here by the time Summer hits.
Thanks to everyone here, as I've gained a lot of knowledge on the C4's just reading interesting / potentially relevant topics. Appreciate that, and I'm sure I'll be bothering y'all about something I didn't see coming before horribly long.

Nice looking C4.
Good luck getting it all sorted out, and up to your standards!

The goal is to hang onto it a bunch of years and keep passing it on through the family.
Appreciate the help with that y'all have already provided.
Trivia, the old man brought it home 30 years ago on Friday. He was the same age then as I am now. Weird little bit of coincidence that just occurred to me.
