First time Corvette owner, never intended to own one, loved the look but never thought I would have one. My next door neighbor had a 1974 Stingray parked in his driveway for years. I looked at it daily as I walked my dogs thinking what a waste, last registered in 2014 but not driven in 8 years. He has a V8 914 Porsche he's been working on and I stop by now and then to help, walking past the Vette half covered with blankets and cat hair.... One day he asked if I knew anyone that would want it, how much ? 5000.
I restored old Nova's in the past and for the right price, why not😎 I stuck a battery in it and poured some gas down it's gullet and the mean bitch fired up, then died. We rolled it down his driveway and backed it into mine and that's where it sits. The interior is nasty. I gutted it, removed the seats carpet center console all the way down to the fiberglass. EVERY bolt I removed had to be cut, rusted to hell, the interior smelled like swamp and cat ****. I itch everywhere, I'm new to fiberglass. I've spent $$$ on new interior stuff, Willcox and Ecklers must love me😂. I hate the original seats so I am building 1980 clamshells from scratch, literally three different people off eBay and CL have supplied the seat parts but Willcox supplied the leather seats and new carpeting, Ecklers supplied the console and other stuff. Next week the parts come in and the building begins. The t tops leak like hell, did weatherstrip. Rear window leaks, new seal, removed doors for new pins and rebuild window tracks. I have several engine options, LS1, or for now pull the heads and intake and cam and install Edelbrock 2104 with FITech injection. Tires are crap, paint sucks. I figure if I invest 10k in this thing it should be worth 6k when I sell it😋 but isn't it about the journey and not the location 😇 anyway, that's my story and in all honesty I really enjoy bringing this turd back to life.
