Howdy from Tulsa
TL;DR First time Corvette owner here and I'm loving the honey moon phase!
When I was a bit younger I had a 2001 Camaro z28 6-speed. Then I got married, bought a house, and had a little one on the way. So unfortunately I had to sell my beloved LS1 to make room. Fast forward some time, 3 kids in and we're settled down as a family, so of course I started to get the itch. After looking at a few Camaros and not being fully satisfied and only seeing that overdriven C5s were in my price range, I noticed C4s were showing up in my search more and more.
Here's where I had a dilemma, being a previous LS1 owner I instinctually negated the LT series as an option. In fact I used to give my best friend a hard time for owning a '95 WS6 all the while claiming my z28 was better based on nothing really. But something about the C4 styling kept pushing me to at least drive one and give it chance.
I found a small dealership with a low mileage 1995, very flashy competition yellow C4. I mean this thing is way too flashy, but there arent many options around and I wanted to at least test drive it. I sat down in the seat and immediately fell in love, all sense of flash was encompassed in what I was sitting in - it made sense.
Ok time to check out what this LT1 is really about. Fired her up and honestly was a bit underwhelmed at how quite she was. I get her on the road and I'm pushing every button I can, noticing things like the fx3 doesnt work, the AC unit contacts need cleaned, the driver side window only works intermittently, etc...
Then I find an on ramp, everything faded from my mind. Nothing else mattered as I tore through First, barked to Second and had to let up on third as I was already well over the recommended speed limit. We make it make to the dealership and the guy wants me to buy it right then but I'm a careful guy so I hold off and do my research.
I can 100% say that this site helped me understand the possible pitfalls I might get into and ultimately helped me make my decision. After a week of reading everything I could, checking into the service records, and much deliberating I went back to the dealer got him to knock off $2,500 for the FX3 system being removed and took her home with a huge smile on my face.
Thanks to every member old and new asking and answering every question possible. I'm a proud Vette owner because of it.
PS. If anyone has fx3 actuators and shocks for sale let me know.
The day I brought her home, 5/23/2017 with 51,038 miles on the dial.

Thanks for sharing the great story, and congrats. on the great looking C4 coupe!
