As the title says, New Member, Old Man.
Due to wife's health problems (spine surgery) we're having to give up riding our Honda Goldwing Trike so we are going to buy another Corvette.
It's been 18 years since we owned a 1996 C4 and a lot of things have changed in the Corvette field. I loved my C4 except for the rattles!
Anyway, I would appreciate some input from you experts on what to look for in a C5 or C6.
I'm probably going to buy one that is 10 to 15 years old and would like to know what to look out for when buying one that old.
It will be strictly a toy to replace our trike. Probably put 400 to 600 miles a month on it if that.
We want a convertible with automatic trans. The need for speed and shifting is long past.
I see a ton of these cars for sale but I need some info on when things start to wear out such as rotors, alternators, cv joints and things like that. 50,000 miles, 60,000, 100,000??
I don't want to spend 20 to 25 grand and have to take it right to a repair shop.
I know it depends on the past owners and the way they drove it but any advice you could give me would be really appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!!

Your best bet is to ask in the C5/C6 sections. Good luck.

Well, I bought a C5! Found it on the C5 for sale forum. Bought it from long time forum member RHNEFF. Pictures are on C5 for sale forum and listed as 2003 C5 Convertible (TX) DFW Area.
Talk about a find!!! Original owner that has probably owned a thousand Corvettes and knows a lot of stuff. The car only has 28,000 miles on it and was babied and maintained as good as you can maintain one. It's just perfect!
It is a bone stock car. He lowered the car using the bolts and I'm going to have to raise it back to stock because it drags too much and the wife has already jumped me about it.
It's in the shop right now getting the sound system updated with a GPS, backup camera and a blue tooth setup. The bezel has to be modified to fit the new unit as I'm sure all you guys know about. That's all I'm doing to it other than hoses and belts.
I was lucky to find a stock 2003 C5 in such good shape!
Drove it about 160 miles home from where I bought it and my face was sore from grinning for about 3 hours. Ain't used to grinning!
