Hello from Hickory, NC

Although not an old hand like many of you, I have had some experience with Corvettes over the last 4 decades, but have only recently discovered Corvette Forum.
Unfortunately, my wife, sister and I were in a significant auto accident about 9 months ago when we were hit head on by an idiot doing approximately 100mph running from the police; we are still having surgeries and/or physical therapy. One of the regrettable side effects was I could not bring myself to get back into any vehicle without air bags so there went the ‘78 and ’86. Dumb, I know! However, to get me out of the house (and out of her hair) and into the garage, my wife pushed for me to pick up a new toy – so we are now the caretakers for a very nice ’99.
In addition to Vettes, we have served as caretakers for some other fun cars including a ’69 Z-28 (real DZ code); Chevelle Malibu SS 396; ’55 Bel Air with a transplanted 301 PowerPak (never sure why this 4”x3” was a 301 and with the same dimensions in the Z was called 302); along with a few drag only cars. I'll confess I also spent some time on the "dark side" and rides there included Mustangs (Mach 1 and GT); 383 Dart GTS; Plymouth 426 Max Wedge; as well as imports ranging from a Beetle; to a Datsun 280ZX; to a V-12 E-type.
Growing up in mid-Florida in the 60s I was pleased to have had engines built by both Bo Laws and Roger Vinci and learned a little bit being present for much of their work.
Through Corvette Forum, I’ve already gained a lot of valuable insight on the C-5 and thank all those who didn’t even know I was getting wise from their words of wisdom.
Thanks for the opportunity to join your class act and hopefully from time to time I’ll be able to provide a little insight for others.
Cheers, Larry

Congrats. on your C5!

Jack and Mickey (and others if I overlooked it), Thank you for your service!
