71 owner here :)
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself. Name's David and I have been a vette owner for about a year now. I purchased a 71 stingray last June. The car came from Maine, it's a matching 4 speed trans and motor car. The day the car was delivered, i drove it to my buddies house and while en route, the distributor took a 💩... I can tell the bird cage has a bit of cancer and the paint job is sub par with all of its hideous overspray. The engine felt tired and the car felt heavy. Even after I got it up and running. Turns out, all my wheel bearings were shot, making the car feel like a complete dog... so I decided to do a little work. The more I dug in, the more issues that arose. I finally decided to do a complete frame off... I purchased a ZZ4 to replace and preserve the old engine. I've had most parts powder coated already and am looking for pre-bent fuel lines. So far, the project is moving along very slowly, but steadily.
Initially, the car was a total 15 footer. Any closer and you could start noticing the cracks in the paint, or the overspray inside the wheelwells. But it's my first vette, so right away I was in love. Felt like those bad relationships where you just argue all the time, but the make up sex is just freaken amazing!
I ended up plastidipping the car and getting some other wheels for it. The fenders are flared and have the 73 opening instead of the egg crates. I'm sure the entire front isn't original to the car, but it seems to fit fairly propper
Long intro, I know, but just wanted to give a quick look into the things I've experienced and seen with this car thus far.
Pleasure to be here you guys.

Welcome to the Forum, Dave!
Looks like you've jumped both feet into the restoration of your '71.
