My grandfather was a Chevrolet Dealer in Burlington, WI and I can still remember a white Vette in his showroom in 1954! The dealership changed hands, but I never forgot that Vette! It's been 45 years since my wife and I bought our first Vette: a White, 1965, 327, 365 hp, 4 sp. Roadster that had to go away when we had our first child on the way and a house was a higher priority. W/the kids gone and retirement here, we jumped back in with an 07, 6 sp., 3 LT, Velocity Yellow, Coupe. We got it in October of 2014 w/only 1750 miles on it! It's now showing 23 K of Fun and Smiles. Our plate is "Pinch Me"! Being in Green Bay, WI we savor the good days and hold our breath for a late fall and early spring. Obviously we bought it to drive it not just wash and wax it. The Forum appears to be very informative. Thanks, I'll get around to personalizing my sign in soon.
I'm called NASCAR, and I'm brand new to the Corvette Forum. A little about myself: I'm original from Lufkin, Texas and spent several years working for the General Postal Service in Houston, Texas. I rejoined the Navy and retired from the U.S. Navy after servicing 30 years on active duty. I worked over ten years for a leading Protective Security firm I'm fully retired now and currently living in Jacksonville, FL.
I'm a Chevy lover and have owned several different Chevrolet models over years such as Biscayne, Chevelle Malibu, Camaro and I was once a member of the Corvette Family.
Yes, I owned a 1979 L88 Corvette, Maroon color with white interior back in 1983 and I kept this Vette for several years before I was forced to sell. As I'm sure, there are other Corvette owners out there that were forced to get rid of their Vette due to a growing family.
Well, I had to do the same thing. I swap out my Vette for a four-door Chevette. Yes, that was a huge downgrade. And of course, I still haven't gotten over that swap out even today. But my wife always promised that once the kids were out of the house, I could buy another Corvette.
Well, the kids are now in the 40, and early 50's and I'm still dreaming of purchasing that long-awaited Corvette. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm hoping to buy a C6 2013 or C7 2014-16 Corvette Z51, or 3LT GS sometime in January or February 2019. So, I'll be actively looking after that low mileage Corvette next month.
So with that said, I'm wondering if I'm the only member of the Corvette Forum that doesn't own a Vette. Nevertheless, I'm so excited about my prospect of purchasing another Vette and eager to chat with other Corvette owners to get your perspectives on which Vette to buy and where to buy?
Well, thanks all in advance for any comments and "Happy Holidays."
