Hello y'all
Hello everyone,
I've finally been able to take the plunge and get a car I've been lusting for since I was a kid. I have been wanting a Corvette since my buddy and I were hanging out at his father's car lot when we were 17 and the owner asked if we would like to earn a little money. He asked if we wanted to ride to Michigan and drive a couple of new cars back to his lot. We said "sure" and loaded in a sedan with two older guys and took off. After several hours, we arrived at a Chevrolet dealership and were ushered into the service lanes where there were two new 1974 Corvettes and an Impala waiting to be driven back home. The two of us looked at each other and started giggling like little girls, then I stopped when I started thinking about the situation a little more. Here, we had a the two older guys that drove for the owner back home all the time, my buddy who's father was the top salesman for the lot, and me. I just knew that the two guys would drive the Vettes, my buddy the Impala and me the transport car. My heart sunk a lot but, hey, I was working and earning some cash. The guy that drove us up came out to the garage area with three sets of keys, the two older guys were grinning a little and the driver said,"Ok boys, who wants the silver Vette and who wants the White one?" . I couldn't have cared less which color I got because I was going to get to drive a CORVETTE!!! We left the dealership and filled up the cars and headed back home. I know that the two of us boys were grinning from ear to ear for the first half of the trip home. About half way back, it started to snow a little, then a little more, then a full on snow storm began! The four of us slowed down and made it back just fine, but I still had white knuckles for a day later. Fast forward 44 years and my buddy now works at a Chevrolet dealer and I am having him dealer trade for a Velocity Yellow 2018 GS Convertible that I will be able to get early next week. I hope to learn a lot from this forum and maybe contribute a little over time. I will try to post a picture of "Babs" (already named her) as soon as I can!!
