I bought a 2003 Z06 about a month ago. I wasn’t really looking for a Corvette but really fell in love with this one when I saw it. Wife and I are empty nesters so I no longer have to own only 4 seaters and minivans so it’s back to sports cars for me. This car is in spotless condition with just under 35k miles on it. Only 2 owners both of whom took pretty good care of it.
The last Corvette I owned was a 66 roadster about 40 years ago. Cost me about $3500 which was probably a bit high considering what lousy condition it was in. The only thing that car did well was accelerate which it did very well. I’m sure I could have fixed all the issues but a lack of cash pretty much kept it in its rough shape. Rather wish I would have kept it.
Other cars I probably should have kept (and the price I paid for them): 68 Roadrunner ($500), 68 440 Charger ($700), 70 Camaro ($1200), 75 Datsun 280Z ($2000), and a beautiful black 68 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 ($15,000 in 1985). Roadrunner and the 280Z both got wrecked. I sold the Camaro so I could buy the 66 Corvette and the Lambo was just a bit too much for my mechanical abilities back then. Amazing how cheap these cars used to be.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to learning how to drive a sports car again. This one has a ton more power than what I am used to so I’ll be taking it easy for a while. Would eventually like to do some track days at Laguna Seca especially if I can hook up with some other C5 owners to get the tips and tricks.
