Hello,
I'm Mike. Have lurked here on occasion and appreciate the info.
Lifetime Corvette fanatic, we have owned my 1958 for over 30 years. My wife and I have owned several vettes over the years, but nothing newer than 1966 until now.
Just made our first foray into "newer corvettes". A few days before Christmas we bought a 1977 on Facebook marketplace for a really good deal! Turns out a disgruntled ex wife took a golf club to her and put 21 dings in the paint, broke most of the tail lights and the rear window, and removed the drivers rear view mirror. The car then sat for over 10 years in various garages. She was occasionally started and moved, but was unregistered since 2006. Had to drag onto the flatbed because the calipers were locked.
Got her home and it took about 3 hours to get her running and rolling with a new battery and a few clean electrical connections and a couple cans of PB blaster, she's purring now without a single shot of starting fluid. This joy was followed by 4 days on the interior removing rats, dead and alive, and fixing electrical gremlins. Our dogs enjoyed helping with this.
Going to need a little advice, so I thought I'd sign up and say Aloha.
Welcome to the Forum, Mike, and best wishes with your Vette attacked by the previous owner's ex-wife.
(Wonder if she used an iron or wood and whether her follow through was critiqued?)
Thanks everyone!
Glad to find a welcoming community. We own a 1957 Mercedes, I signed up for a similar site for that particular car and posted a similar greeting and got nothing.....
Here's our beloved 1958 and a 1964 we no longer have.
Photos are a little dated, but our Favorite cars of all time!
And here is the "new" 77, saved from any future domestic abuse issues:
Thanks for the hospitality!
Glad to see a welcoming community. I signed up for a Mercedes enthusiast's website last year and posted a similar greeting. We got nothing in response.
Here is a picture of our beloved 1958, along with a 1966 that had to find a new home. Our favorite cars of all time:
And here are a few pictures of our "new" 1977, hopefully saved from and future domestic abuse issues: You can see the divots were not too bad.
See you in the C1 & C3 forums, and with any luck, C2.
