new to here but not to older vehicles...I have always loved C2's but they have always been outside of my reach (or so I believed). I still remember in 93 while in college, visiting Bubu Corvette on Beach Blvd in HB and seeing a gorgeous C2 but impossibly beyond my means. The closest I came was when I sold and moved to MO in '04 but I decided to not spend my equity that way.
The shorter side is that fast forward and I am selling my business and decided the sacrifices I've made while building it, I want a nicer classic and will start being caretaker for 2-5 years before moving on to another (I will keep my cheaper classics - 75 T/A, IH Scout, 72 Ranchero none are perfect but decent). Again I believed I was outside of one of my dream cars, until a friend who has owned several C2s told me that a nice driver high hp SB 4spd vert would top around 42k. My budget was 35k but to obtain my dream I am willing to extend the budget.
To that end, I will be pulling all information I can, and will appreciate any help to increase my knowledge. I figure I will narrow down to 65-66 convertible minimum 340 hp, 4spd, both tops, preferably leather and Teak (but not deal breaker), and not red - all other details are negotionable.
I have always loved the Nassau over white or silver but I have found the other less common colors turning my head (green, maroon...).
Expected close date is April and will be looking close to that time.
Thanks for letting me in - I've been lurking this morning and reading in the C2 forums - enjoyed it nicely
Thanks all, is there a better than another book to help with identifying the specifics on the C2 (help to ensure I don't get smoked on a prospective car)? I saw that there was a great one recommended for restoration, but I wasn't sure if it would be good as an identifier so I can know what to look for.
Thanks in advance.
