Hello all,

Picked up a 93 base 6spd this past weekend. Got it real cheap. My plans are to bring it up to good working order...fluids, pads, fix the stumbling motor, etc. Drive it a bit, then evaluate what to do next. I could just flip it at that point or just put some serious money into it to make it a tolerable street machine but with a heavy bias toward HPDE type stuff.

Anyway, here are a few pics. Got it for roughly half the amount on the windshield from a local Chevy dealer.

For around $2500, unless there is a lot of expensive things to fix on the car, you got a very good deal. Welcome to the forum and good luck getting the car back in shape.

So I have been researching most of the last 3 days about LSX swaps. They seem like quite a bit of trouble. I'm seriously considering just having the LT1 built by one of the local engine shops. I assume that I can get a 400hp/400lbft motor for less than the cost of a new LSX.

I would also like to do some drastic simplification of the instrument binnacle/center stack with analog gauges but keeping the AC controls intact. I don't care about music in this car. My Audi is for comfort.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your C4!
The LT1 engine was a good, strong power plant (with the exception of some Opti-spark and oil leak issues that are usually fixable now). With a well developed plan, you should be able to get your 400/400 goals. If you can do most of the work yourself, you can do it cheaper than an LSx swap.
Good luck with your modding.
