First, I love my 2014 C7 Z51 Manual Trans, convertible ( Velocity Yellow ). Last month I came out early in the morning to find my car completely dead. No previous indicators, the car doors wouldn't unlock.. alarm buttons on key FOB got no response. I entered the car through the trunk pull latch, inserted the FOB in the column holder, and it would not start. I received a few indications that the theft system was engaged.
I assume the car did not see the FOB.. Interestingly the battery was almost dead ..
I figured it all was tied to a bad battery, and had it replaced. They car then started but still was not seeing the FOB when in the column. Having an extended warranty, I went to the dealership. Over 3 weeks they've replaces body control modules multiple times, and ordered new key FOBs.. They tell me that the BCMs are iffy out of the box, and that if the programing fails they sometimes have to order a replacement???
Today they still have the car ( 3 weeks).. the car is partially functional, the FOBs do not unlock the doors.. but do start the car once inside. The dealership tells me they referred this problem to the GM Corvette support team, and they are waiting for a response.
They've given me a loaner ( I drive my C7 a few times a week)... and now seem content to let me wait..
Has anyone seen BCM problems like this? Are the actions by the dealership suspect? I'm actually thinking of trading it in on a new car at the end of the year based on this trouble, and only two years left on my extended warranty.
