New C4 Owner SC
I found this one sitting on a used car lot 5 minutes from where I work via Car Gurus.
It was infatuation at first sight, but the dealer let me take my time, checked everything out before taking a test drive.
Clean Car Fax, garage kept, non-smoker owned I admit it looked really good.
I had been considering (lusting after) a C3 since I was a kid, but wanted something newer with things like ABS and air bags. I read where the C4 was designed with more interior room and being 6 foot 2 that was important in my selection. I don't think I'd have ever fit into a C3.
I also decided that I liked the idea of a targa top and the way the engineers incorporated on-board storage for the top. Mine came with the blue tinted glass roof.
This will be the first Corvette I have ever owned and the first two-seat car I have ever owned. My first car was a '69 Chevy Impala 2 door hardtop (bought used in '78 for $350), so I've been a Chevy guy for a while now... just larger models until now.
I have discovered that I don't sit in this car, I put it on... like a suit. Once I put it on I get this big silly grin on my face. Another factor that influenced me was the fact that this was a relatively low mileage car at 62k and change.
I loved the styling of the car as I could easily see the heritage between my new C4 and the previous generation. And then there's that hood. I mean this generation's got the coolest hood I've ever seen and gives you great access to the engine. Oh, really clean engine bay as well.
I knew going in that I would be spending money on her mainly by the fact that it took 3 attempts to start when cold. I took it to the dealer and it needed a new starter which I thing must be cast out of platinum by how much it cost. She also needed two lower ball joints and an oil pan gasket. Could I have done these repairs myself? Yes, but with 3 other projects vying for my attention, I want to be able to climb in and drive. I did it. I actually own a Corvette. A lot of cool for $8995.

Lots of helpful C4 info in: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-1984-1996-19/
We had a few and I really enjoyed how the whole front end opens to expose the engine.
Wishing you many years of enjoyment.
