Hi guys,
My name is Nik, I am from Germany and I was travelling FL to find a nice Vette C3 convertible just a week ago. I should have subscribed before buying but now all is settled, Vette is on the way to Germany.
And I guess I cought a good one. Matching # enthusiasts might think different but for me it was more important to get a low-risk-driver. Therefore I was more focused on a well maintained Vette in good shape than on matching numbers.
What I got is a frame off restoration. A vietnam veteran who owned her for 15 Years, frame off restored her, new 454BB; edelbrock intake; Holley carb; power steering; new power breaks and discs;power 100 amp; hurst shifter; alloy cooler etc. long list of features.
He now has problems with the back so he can't drive her anymore and that is why it was time to find a new home for her.
She's not a 100% original babe but beauty and in excellent shape. Happy!
some pics attached....
I like that all corvette drivers do greet and even have a chat here and there when meeting somwhere. Nice community!
Nik
Welcome to the forum, Nik, and congratulations on your sharp C3!
I agree with you and for a daily driver I would put reliability ahead of numbers matching.

My thoughts exactly. Welcome to you, sir. I hope to find such a nice looking C3 one day.
To be honest: It's not ment to be a daily driver but after all I read about potential issues a Vette might suffer from I decided to "go save". I was looking to various Vettes in FL but all of them had issues (blue smoke with funny noises; wrotten a-pillar, etc.). At the end I was frustrated and scared about potential upcoming costs once purchased. That's why I felt kind a relief to have found a frame-off resto.
The only thing I regret is that I did not ask you guys before buying it. You might have had some suggenstiones.
Please feel free to let me know about your thoughts.
Thank you
Nik
Hey guys,
thank you for your warm welcome!
A question: does the hood look weird on a 70 corvette? I mean it's a 74 hood that elliminates the whiper door. I like the look but what do you guys think?
thx
