My first Corvette bought in April of 2018. My first Chevy if I don't include my Mom's hand-me-down 1982 Cavalier from years ago. My son is going to start driving soon so he will get my old daily driver and I searched for a daily driver for several months. First I considered C6 corvettes and then I started considering a fully restored classic cars such as a 67-70 Mustang, Challenger, Road Runner, Super Bee, 66-67 SS396 Chevelle, etc. but then I came back to C6 Corvettes. I wanted a Convertible and then learned about the 2013 427 Convertible Collectors Edition and I found one locally with 28K miles in Torch Red and bought it.
I own a side business where I make aftermarket chassis and suspension products for classic Fords and Mercs. PacificThunderPerformance.com. I've been involved with classic cars for many years including classic Mustangs. I have a fully restomodded 65 fastback mustang in Black like my last name, Blackford. Small block 331 with approximately 430 HP@6500 with a 5 speed and 3.89 gearing out back. It's almost as fast as the 'vette but not quite. It would give the 'vette a run for its money up to 70-80 but then the 'vette would pull away.
When I got the car, the 'vette was lowered completely down with the trim bolts turned all the way up. I had to raise the car because it was too low for daily driving. I used a Quick Jack, which barely fit under the car, to lift it. Adjusted the trim bolts about 5/16 down which resulted in raising the car about 13/16". Motion ratio on these bolts is about 2.6 to 1, which many of you may already know, based on my results and the measurements I made on the LCAs. One of these days i'll realign it if it needs it. Now the car is back to a height where I can drive the car without scraping on every little dip and speed bump...much better and more enjoyable.
