Default New to 1979 Vet

Hi I am a retired Macy Corpsman and I am new to the Corvette community and I recently purchased a 79 corvette and I have had nothing but problems with the electrical system since I am not very car savvy I am asking for advice. I put a new alternator in the car put a New tachometer and had a new speedo cable put in amping other things. I replaced most of the gauge cluster and when I started the engine the alternator gauge pegged at 18 volts and fried the tach. I know the alternator was good any ideas

Welcome, but to get an answer to the questions on your car, you’ll need to post in the C3 Tech section. Good luck getting the car fixed.
