New member intro
So I'm going through a lot of changes in my life. Mom passed away, going through a divorce, moving from CA to Texas, and now have a cancer diagnosis. I decided that after I finish the cancer treatment I'm going to treat myself to a "get well" present. I'm a long time gearhead, and currently have a '67 Pro street Chevelle (6-71 blown 470BBC, tubbed, caged, the whole 9) thats been a blast, but I think its time for a car that I can take out anytime and drive to the grocery store, or drive across the country. Been looking at the ZL1 Camaro, but am more drawn to the ZO6. I bought a new '93 Corvette when I graduated from college and that was a blast, but I know today's vettes are so much more car than in 93!
Anyhow, I think a ZO6 is in my near future. Also looking at adding some extra packages (looking at AMP's stage 2 package, maybe plus a 100 shot of N2O). I've always been a drag racer at heart but would like to try some track racing too. When I was married I bought my wife a Shelby Cobra and she did some racing - mostly with a Porsche club - they hated her for it

Anyhow, looking for the reliable performance packages, bonus for proximity to the Dallas area, and big bonus for reliability and warranty that's worth its salt. Seems to me a decent start is a pulley, headers, x-pipe, fresh air package, and an ECU program. That, combined with my 100 shot of Nitrous should get me in the 10's I'd think?
Anyhow, I've done a lot of reading here and thought it was time to join and start being more serious...

Best of luck in your search and for your health!

Best wishes for a quick and successful full resolution of your cancer.

You're too kind!My plan is to buy a new ZO6 - that's the plan anyhow - meeting a dealer on Weds to compare the ZO6 to ZL1 but I'm pretty much sure that the ZO6 is where I'm going. Then it just becomes finding the right car at the right time. Part of me wants to wait for the C8, but at the same time one thing I've learned lately is that life isn't something you can always wait for - live for the moment and in the moment - and so I'm thinking I'll find a nice 2019 ZO6, and then when the C8 releases I can reassess - there will be a frenzy for the first year or so while people froth at the mouth to get on, and then I'd want to let GM work through the bugs of an entirely new platform, so that's out to 2021 - so I clearly have time

Looking for other Corvette guys around Fort Worth TX, that's where I plan to end up over the coming months, God willing.
Thanks again!
