First time Vette owner C3
Glad to be here. I am a Toolmaker/ Machinist with 40+ years in the trade and currently live in Orange county, Ca. I plan on moving to AZ in the next year or two. I can run just about any machine and do a lot of the programing for the CNC's I run. I currently do prototype work. My main hobby is gunsmithing and making parts for guns that you can't buy anymore. My main focus is AK47's.
Any way Here is the 73 C3 I picked up yesterday, I think I got a pretty good deal. It cost me $3500 plus $200 for towing. It has had 2 previous owners, both woman. The first had it for 15 years and the second 30 years. The car has been sitting for 15 years.
It is an all original numbers matching except for the stripe which is strait out of the 70's. No rust to speak of only surface from what I see so far. This is what I know so far. 98K miles, Base engine, A/C, Power windows. The tires are old so they will have to go. The first thing I will do is get some good stands and get it off the ground so I can get under it.
It runs but as mentioned it has been sitting so it is going to need a lot of work but I think it is a great project car. I plan on doing a lot of research before deciding what direction and how far I want to go with the restoration. I think it would be a good candidate for keeping it original but would not mind a crate motor and burgundy paint job either. I'm here to get your guy's and gals input.

The first pic is what it looked like in the past and the rest what it looks like now.

Bummer it was allowed to go downhill, but sure it will be first rate when you're finished.
Please post pics along the way.

I told the lady I bought it from that I would fix it up and take care of it and that's what I intend to do. I graduated from high school in 77 so the C3's and the Olds 442 have been on my wish list.
I was not planning on this buy because I just shipped out my dads truck from Ohio, an 88 Ram with 50K miles. The Vette fell in my lap thru my wife's coworkers sister.

Congrats. on your C3!
Best of luck with your plans!
