Metro Detroiter with a C4

As a early-30s auto engineer, I took a job in vehicle dynamics a while back, and got tired of being on the slow end of the timing sheet with coworkers in performance driving situations. I've been looking for the past few months in search of a AutoX/HPDE toy to help rectify the situation. While I was planning on waiting until spring to actually purchase, I ended up jumping on a locally offered base 1992 on eBay for $2800 last week. I never went into this with the intentions of buying a Corvette, I was fairly set emotionally on a Foxbody and logic really dictated I buy a Miata. I wound up sold on the performance and handling ESPECIALLY coupled with the prices they are going for now, it just made it a no brainer after a while. Didn't hurt that I could also do it as an homage to my grandfather, who always loved the car and owned a showroom clean C1!
The car itself is a fairly base 1992 with a 170k miles under its belt. High miles, but mostly clean and still enough life left in it for my purposes. Sadly (IMO) it is an auto, but the price was too good to pass up. Mechanically, stock besides exhaust and C6 wheels. Someone decided to Wal-Mart up the interior with crappy speakers and a knock off touchscreen, and normal wear on bolsters and the loose steering column is very present. Corners need some love, but brakes and shocks were something likely getting upgraded on whatever I bought anyhow. Sadly living in Michigan this time of year, I only got to enjoy it for all of dozen miles or so, this week its going up on jackstands to get ready for spring after I decide which racing classes I want to mod it for. I thank everyone in advance for the help I am surely going to be asking for over the off season.
Anyways, if this is anything like other forums, people love pics, so here it is after getting cleaned up this afternoon!

Bummer you already have to put her away for the winter.
Wishing you a short winter and early spring!

Congrats. on your C4.
Should be a lot of info. in the C4 area, and the Great Lakes regional area to get you going on mods. and classes for racing!

Cool, didn't realize there was a regional area, I'll definitely check that out! Always looking for other events, as it seems that SCCA lost a few dates in the area from what I remember a few years ago. ALready checking out my local NCCC clubs too!
