I am new to this forum and I personally own a 1979 Z28 that I bought in high school but currently is in the long process of being rebuilt. The camaro is not the reason that I signed up for this forum. Back in 1979 when I was 10 years old my grandfather bought a brand new corvette. I thought that car was awesome. He kept that car until about 15 years ago when he gave it to my uncle. Over that time he let me drive it a few times and I always dreamed about someday owning it. When my grandfather gave the car to my uncle it had about 22,000 miles on it and was in great shape. My uncle lives in Nebraska and I live in Michigan so I have not seen the car since he gave it to my uncle. I figured I would never see that car again. Well to my surprise my father called me a few days ago and told me that he had just bought the car from my uncle. I was so surprise to get that call from my father because I had no idea he wanted to buy that car. So sometime around the end of April my father and I will be taking a trip to Nebraska to go get the car. I can't wait to drive it again.
My dad and I arrived in Nebraska today to pick up the Corvette today. Dang it looks nice on the trailer ready to head to its new home in Michigan. It will look even better driving down a road in Michigan very soon.
After a 4 day 2500 mile round trip my grandpa's Corvette is now officially in my dad's garage. He told me on they way back that the vette will be mine someday. I really hope that is a long time away. The vette has has a few little scrapes and chips in the paint that i knew my grandpa did when he had gotten up in the years. Most of he touched up. The interior and the engine are in excellent condition and it only has 29,000 miles on it. It was a long 4 days of driving but it was well worth it. Plus I got to spend a great 4 days with my parents which was the best part of the trip.
