Aint my first rodeo (from Phoenix)
Hello all. Almost 60 years ago I bought a 1961 Corvette. Chestnut brown with Fawn beige interior, RPO 90 exhausts, RPO 60 rally steering and an optional hardtop. I was king ****!
3 years later in the midst of a bad snowstorm, while waiting at a stop light, the last thing I saw was the front end of a big Ford skidding sideways and blasting through a snowbank right towards my left door. I remember seeing my windshield turn to diamond flakes, the front end explode, and the hardtop flying off. After spinning around and ending up wrapped around a pine tree I realized I was completely covered in snow. All I saw was WHITE! And considering if the car even had seat belts (which I dont remember if it did or not) I was not wearing them, AND I WAS NOT HURT ONE BIT! My pride and joy was totaled. Ok, I was really sore everyplace the next day! But that really helped get a good insurance settlement from the other guys company.
Fast forward almost 60 years (and it really, really went fast) and I'm telling my neighbor how I used to be 'King ****' but for the sake of one snowstorm spent the rest of my life as just another Dodge/Honda/Toyota driving dopey jamoke, And hence the reason I moved to Phoenix to get away from killer snow! And of course that I could carry a gun and ride a motorcycle without a helmet and watch pretty girls in shorts year round.
And then, out of the blue he starts telling me of his friend, another old guy, that has been restoring (sort of) a C3 1981 tee top. And that he decided to finally sell it and downsize to a senior condo. Do I know anyone that would be interested?
Like that old joke: WOOD EYE, WOOD EYE? So, two weeks later here I am, after nearly 60 years, with the most beautiful ..."SNOW WHITE"... 1981 Stingray tee top (and a big box of interior parts to figure out).
I know, it's kind of ironic that it is SNOW WHITE.
