My name is Carl and I bought my first Corvette yesterday from an online estate auction.
It's a sad story how the car came to be sold this way. The previous owner was the brother of a good friend of mine. He was killed when his van fell on him while he was working on it and was not found for 6 days. Sorry to start my Corvette story with a bummer chain of events but here I am.
The car has several modifications to include caliper covers, corsa exhaust, Pro-Charger #P-1SC, MSD ignition box and a full compliment of custom gauges on the window pillar. I was told it needed a new battery so I bought one and installed it. Unfortunately, I didn't know it also has a short somewhere and I was unable to start the car. The codes generated by a diagnostic tool are #16 which is for the Optispark (?) as well as another from a hack software which indicated a problem with the Mass Air Flow Sensor. The first problem to be rectified is the short. It is currently at a Chevy dealership in Spartanburg, SC.
I am excited to own the vehicle but I am quite certain I am in over my head. I am willing and able to learn. I don't know how much I will be able to contribute to posted threads due to my inexperience. I will give back when I can contribute something useful, if ever. :-)

Post your questions in the C4 section. Knock them out one at a time and before long you'll have it running like it should!
I just realized the car is at a dealer. This forum has saved me plenty of $$ over the years. Try to find some clubs in your area and and a good Corvette shop that actually works on C4's. Most of us use the dealer as a last resort. Consider your car was last made 25 years ago, how many mechanics are left? Just something to consider!
Hi and thanks for the good wishes. I didn't have much of a choice relative to bringing it to a dealership or a Corvette specialist. Time was short as it was a Saturday and I live in Marietta, GA, not Spartanburg, SC. My goal is to get it back to Marietta and then figure out the best course of action. I appreciate your thoughts and it makes great sense. I was just up against a wall.
Jeff, I am in a bind. The dealership will not work on the car and I don't know where to have the car taken. I have never posted to a site like this aside from where I was directed last night. Is there a list of preferred vendors on this site? thanks in advance!
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
