Like so many others I am joining because of the anticipated arrival of my first ever Corvette, a C8. My introduction to Vettes was in the '60s when my brother bought a new '65 Tuxedo black 327 roadster. My creds were elevated in high school just having a brother who owned a Vette. In those days I spent more time reading the Corvette News than any other car magazine.Got closer to them working at GM Research in the GM Tech Center in Warren. Although always around them I have never owned one.
My first new car was a Firebird in '70 while working for GMR. It's about to undergo a heavily modified, much needed ground up resto-mod. My current daily driver is an E60 M5. My autocross, track car, back roads car is a heavily modded, Rosso Corsa 3000GT VR4.
Although like so many, I admired Vettes from a far but never owned one. I had been looking at buying a 360 Modina for about a month before the C8 reveal. I had seen the spy shots but was not impressed except for it being a mid-engined design. That all changed when the actual car arrived. Although Ferraris remain a favorite marque the new Vette has jumped up to world class standing with what we've seen already. So, I could own an expensive to maintain 15yo exotic that I find gorgeous or a brand new 'exotic' under warranty and containing better performance with the latest technology. The choice was made simple after watching the reveal and subsequent videos.
