Future C8 owner, convert from the darkside
I'm extremely excited about the new C8. It's impressed me so much that I had been planning on purchasing a 911 (a life-long dream of mine) and the C8 just seems so great it's completely driven that thought from my mind. The fact that an American company can bring out something that's basically a mid-engine supercar that can compete with the best from around the world at a fraction of the price is something to really be proud of, and I'd love to support that with my own money.
I've been a long time fan of Japanese sports cars, my current collection is a 2018 Subaru BRZ tS, 1977 Datsun 280Z, 1991 Toyota Supra, 1989 Nissan 240SX, and a 1985 Corolla GT-S (AE86). I've also had some V8 muscle in the form of a Plymouth Duster, Plymouth Satellite hardtop coupe, and Ford Mustang GT convertible in the past.
Corvettes were my absolute favorite car when I was in elementary school, and I had learned how to draw a C4's (and C5's in high school) from memory on all my notebooks instead of taking actual class notes. This paid off in the long run, as I'm now the design director for a major US wheel manufacturer, and am finally able to afford a car in this price bracket.
With the shift to an MR platform, I have a feeling that a good number of younger people who had previously been interested in other types of cars may be migrating over to Corvettes.
I also understand that the Corvette faithful may view us as interlopers or intruders, jumping on an affordable supercar without respecting the Corvette legacy.
I'm just here to learn, become a part of the Corvette community, and respect those Corvette enthusiasts who came before me.
We're currently in the process of purchasing a house, and my wife and I both agreed that once we finish that, she'll upgrade from her Q5 to a Porsche Macan S (her dream car), and I'll get my 'Vette.
So I hope to be able to share my (most likely 2021 model year) C8 in the near future.
