Always wanted one but wasn’t practical with the kids, etc. Kids are grown, we needed to get another car, wife said I should get something I want instead of something that just provides transportation. Considered Tesla model 3 but can’t get over dropping $50k on a car. Found a 2008 C6 Z51 6 speed, black, with cashmere interior with 50k miles and picked it up Monday.
Very much like the car. Cosmetically very clean, very clean underside, and seems to drive very well. Getting it inspected at a local speed shop Tuesday to ensure it is mechanically sound and doesn’t require any repairs.
Only concerns so far, is the scraping of the front end and some occasional rattling noises at low speeds. I have a steep driveway and have to be creative when entering and exiting to limit the scraping. Getting used to the clutch, seems engagement is further from the floor than any other manual I’ve ever driven but getting used to it.
My toys for the past 19 years have been motorcycles and cars have all been utilitarian. I have a 17 Triumph Speed Triple that is very quick and a thrill to ride. The Vette will mainly be a weekend car as I work from home but will be my daily driver as well. I expect I will put less than 7k miles a year on it, probably more like 5k.
I have been scouring the C6 forum a good bit the past two weeks and have enjoyed learning about these cars. Looking forward to learning even more.
My C5 and C7 clutches both engaged late and I didn't mind at all. Probably normal. Welcome to the forum. You can post all your concerns or questions in the C6 area, There's a wealth of information there and some quite knowledgeable people. I believe the 08 had the LS3 engine. Awesome power plant. Welcome to the forum.
