Just got home today with 1996 silver anniversay vette with about 75K on odemeter. My first Vette. Came with two tops, smoke glass and painted.
Ran great. I got 23.5 miles a gallon on way home in mixed driving. Needs minior work. A little leather repair on drivers seat. Needs a new weatherstrip on rear side of drivers door where window goes up and down. (what you call that so I can order it right?). Some wind noise as a result. Tires look new. A/C works great. Dash a little warped but not a big deal. Hood was repainted due to clear coat peel and looks new. Front bumper has a lot of paint dings from bugs and such. I've ordered a mini bra to cover it. Stereo is really good sound. It is an automatic; I think i would have preferred manual but couldn't pass on the price and overall condition -- $7K. Hoping not to need this site for repairs but incase one comes up I'm counting on you all. Wondering when to use solid color roof over smoked glass - winter / summer? Thanks. Oh and all the comments I read about getting in and out -- really not that bad! Very comfy once inside. Plan on using it as my part time driver splitting time with my truck. May have to get rid of old jeep now though.

Congrats on your '96 Commemorative Edition Corvette and welcome to the forum. I think you'll find the C4 sections of the forum to be very helpful as you go forward with the car.
As to when to use the various tops, I would use the solid top when summer temps get really hot - will keep the car a bit cooler. Other than that, the see through top is a very good choice.
