Hi there

Just imported a red/white red 1958 C1 with 290 HP injection engine. I am in love again !!!

I will surely have a few questions, as the American beauty has a a few flaws that I intend to fix in the coming months/years... So thanks in advance to the good wills and gurus for their help !

Francois, from the French Alps

You're going to be a popular person with the car community over there. Nice choice of a Corvette. Welcome to the forum. Please post a Pic of your C1. It's a rare car.

Thanks guys for your messages, this is great !
First issue to be solved: the brakes (standard drums) are quite loose: the pedal really travels a loooong way, nearly to the floor and requires quite some effort to get decent deceleration. If I really push hard, I will manage to block the front wheels nevertheless.
Pumping on the pedal does not change anything. I precise here that I already have had a few cars without servo brakes... so I more or less know what to expect "normally" !
First obvious possibility: air in the circuit. Is there any specific procedure to follow for the bleeding ?
Second possibility: are there adjustment possibilities on the brakes themselves, like on my 1965 VW Combi which has small wheels to turn to adjust... ? I have not seen anything there yet...
Thankssssss !

PS: as requested, a picture of the American Beauty, still on US plates !

Now that's a Corvette! Beautiful!

From what you describe, it sounds to me like your brakes may need a simple adjustment. At least that's where I would start.

Welcome!
