Just got my first Vette, after wanting one for 50 years! I am tickled to death with it. It is a 02 C5, blue, black interior with manual transmission and 48K miles. It was a CA car until 2 years ago when it made it to Atlanta for a couple of years and before I bought it last week in Atlanta. I live in Charlotte. It was the color and manual transmission that I wanted, low miles and reasonably stock. I saw the aftermarket exhaust and cold air intake before I bought it. Not perfect I thought but close. Driving from Atlanta to Charlotte I decided aftermarket or not the exhaust sounds really good. Regardless I wanted to know more about it and called the shop in CA that had serviced it thinking they might have done the mods and could tell me about it. They said they didn't do work like that but they looked up the vin and gave me the previous owner's name and phone number. I got in touch with him yesterday and he told me about the car. It is a Borla exhaust which I'm obviously pleased with. He also said it has a B&M Short throw shifter which probably explains why I thought the shifting was unusual. Also said he still had a car cover for it that he'd get to me and the stock air filter and shifter if I ever wanted to go back to them. I like my streetcars to be pretty stock.
I've had racecars to quench my thirst for modifications. First was a Formula Ford that I ran in OK and I've raced a Legends car on both ovals and road courses here in NC. I used to be an auto mechanic so I'm interested in a lot of technical stuff. I'm an electrical engineer now and I used to do data acquisition for some NASCAR teams. Other notable cars I've had were a 66 SS 396 Chevelle, a 914 Porsche, a 97 Miata, an MG Midget an Autin Healey Sprite. I wish I still had all of them and my goal in life is to keep buying cool cars and try to keep more of a collection. I'd love to have a 67 Corvair as my next car, I'm a GM guy.
I'm looking forward to taking the C5 up to the Blue Ridge Parkway ASAP. I've driven it many times in my 97 Miata. Really looking forward to a nice drive. NC has some really nice roads! After its first bath by me and my 12yo daughter. I really think the C5 is the sexiest Corvette!

Congrats on your first Corvette - and a C5 is a very good choice. Welcome to the forum and I'd recommend you visit the various C5 sections for plenty of useful information and helpful members.
You found the best Corvette site hands-down for learning about you Vette! I predict that you will spending a fair amount of time in the C5 section. There are some great threads located in each sections sticky threads (top threads).
I hope to see you around the Charlotte area. I live in Concord. Don't forget to wave!!
