I am new to this, so bear (bare) with me. I am a disabled vet, usmc 72-74. Damaged but not destroyed. Native oregonian, born and raised in Roseburg, please dont hold that against me. I am a patriot, a believer in god, country and service to my brothers and sisters.
At this point in my life ive been so blessed with homelessness, financial crisis, and my companion Jaco, 120lbs. Great Dane/ chocolate lab. Which brings me to my new adventures; adventures for vets, toy drive, and connections the community to the veteran. What a special, and catchy endeavor
What i invision is a series of trips to fun places that are both fun and education. I believe this will dispel some of the myths, misperceptions, and stigmas about disabled vets. The first adventure will be a vet in a vet on a toy drive.
so im reaching out and curating for Adventures for Vets. Im looking for anyone who would like to be a part of or support my vision/mission.
Our standard practice has been to require that any request for donations must go through a 501c3 organization. That provides some safeguards to donors because the agency is required to file reports with the Internal Revenue Service on how they spent the money. It also makes the donations tax deductible.
There have been exceptions, of course, such as when a long-time, active site user falls on hard times, needs some immediate help and generous site users spontaneously jump in and try to help.
There is some danger involved in independent requests for donations and those who participate accept the risk that their donations may not be used for the purpose indicated.
If some of you believe the cause is worthy and want to participate, you will do so. If you do not want to participate, that's fine, too.
