Well I did it. Buying a new Vette. It all started when I started looking at some chrome bumpered C3s. As a kid I really liked them when they first came out. Now that I'm retired it was time to treat myself. Then I said to myself. Do you really want one". It's a 50 year old car and even though you know you could buy one that needs to be restored and dive into it. Do you really want to spend all that time, money and with my luck aggravation? The clock is ticking. Could always pay the big buck and get a restored one but then I'd suddenly see myself treating it like Grandma did with the fine old china. Stays in the cabinet and no one touch or eat off it lol.
Then all of a sudden the C8s come out. Wow!!! Nice car and I had to check into it. But what's this. You got on to the Corvette band wagon too late. Now your standing in line for what could be two years and dishing out MSRP or more. Oh no your not you cheap SOB. Buying new was starting to make sense to me and as I was walking out of the dealership I couldn't help but notice that there were a couple of new C7s growing roots in the lot. Everyone wants the latest and supposedly greatest I suppose. To me the C7 is still a fantastic sports car. Long in the tooth to some maybe but mine are longer. It's still is and will always be a "CORVETTE" like any other one I told myself.
Okay change of plans. I'm not saying they are giving them away but they are starting to come down in price. Dealers locally didn't have much around that turned my crank. So I looked out further and found myself a nicely appointed 2019 Grand Sport. Was able to play the dealer against another one out there who had a similar model. Got the discounted price down further and made the deal. Now I can enjoy life, have worry free fun and be a Mid Engine C8 Hater. "Just kidding" lol. Started reading the forums in the last couple of months and it makes me chuckle sometimes. All Corvettes are great sports cars.
Now I'll just go and made a nuisance out of myself in the C7 Discussion Forum. Got some insignificant modding and questions to ask.
