Welcome to the forum, Commanderr1 and 69' Riverside!
Hope you both enjoy your C3 Corvettes.

Riverside - I am not sure who was telling you about the hood for a C3 or what they were trying to say. A 383" Chevy engine is basically a 350 block with a crank from a 400 cubic inch engine. The 350 block is 26 inches wide, 28 inches long, and 27 inches tall, and the big block Chevy is 28 inches wide, 30.5 inches long, and 29 inches tall. That is for the 396/427 block and the L88 was a specially prepped 427.
Bottom line - Yes you can put a 383 ci Chevy engine in a C3 and use any C3 big block hood.

Commanderr1 - Sounds like a great project you will have with your son! I'm sure you will both enjoy this!

Hey there! A 383 is still a small block just the same as the 350 or any other. The end result of fitting under the hood would come down to what induction system you choose. If its going to be just a standard intake and carb I dont forsee any fitment issues. You could get into fitment issues if you plant to have a supercharger or high rise intake. Just my opinion.
