Back in the game......From Lincoln, NE.....Hello
Greetings. Turned 50 this year. Loved turning wrenches as a kid, hence my older brother calling me greaser all the time. As life went on with work, kids, and other activities, I set the car hobby aside. My career is as an aviation turbine engine technician, leading a team for the Honeywell TFE731 line of engines that power the smaller business jets such as Learjet, Falcon, and Hawkers, and more recently the HTF7000 (AS907) that powers the next size larger aircraft, such as the Challenger 300 and Embraer Legacy.
I came across a pretty rough '74 corvette and decided to jump back into the game. It will be a slow project, as I tend to only allow time after work, between 1 and 3 am, and a bit on the weekends. I tend to tinker more than hit it really hard, like when I was younger.
The car ran and drove when I bought it, but barely. Pulled the engine out last weekend and upon disassembly, found it to be a fairly fresh 383 cu in, although it had original exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, distributor (points), and heads (882). It was the L48 low HP low compression option, with a TH400 auto. and 3.08 axle ratio.
So the plan is to slowly gather parts, and freshen up the engine. Rebuild the transmission. And have some fun driving and tinkering.
I look forward to reading many threads, and experiencing what others have to offer. I greatly appreciate the time and input of those with knowledge and who have been there done that.
I apologize up front, for starting threads that may have been hashed over and over and over. I've searched threads, but sometimes it's just quicker to ask the specific question.

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your project. If you search and can't find no problem starting a thread. That's what the forum is for. A trick I use is to use Google to search the forum by adding Corvette forum to the end of my search string. Works great.
