Been a car guy since I was kid, long, long time ago. Knew about Corvettes all along, started to get interested in them long about C6, more so at C7, and finally pulled the trigger on a C8. The probably puts me on the fringes of the group, but still, I hope, tolerated in the group.
After three spinal surgeries and becoming a senior citizen some years back, track driving is now safely in my past. Can't take jouncing, can't retain the necessary sharp focus for nearly as long as I used to be able to. Driving at six tenths is the new eight tenths.
My C8 will have the stock suspension, L2 package for drivability, and will be one of 17 (I'm told) cars in Long Beach Red. Don't see much point in carbon fiber for decoration when it's not structural. Mostly, it will (gasp!) be a city car, but with a touch of freeway driving most days. Good ride quality is a spinal necessity.
The local dealer has delivered three, so far. Two went about 40 miles away, but one is in town. I'm keeping my eyes peeled...
I decided to get a C8 because of the engineering, the attention to detail in the design, the ride quality, and of course, the acceleration. Looking forward to enjoying the sensations, the nuances, and the joy of driving it.
