I am a recovering British car owner (Triumph Spitfire, Jaguar XJS) and German car owner ( 2 x Porsche 914). The other day I realized that I have had my 1990 Corvette for 17 years.
It has been my most reliable car. I did have to rebuild the engine because I took some bad advice from a "Specialist" and did not get the gauge cluster rebuilt which ended up turning the oil to tar in the middle of the California desert many years ago. Since then I have been doing most of my own maintenance. Over the past few years I have recovered the seats
sanded and repainted the pealing clear coat on the front bumper ( paint from TouchUpDirect )
Sent the gauge cluster off to be rebuilt
I've replace the Bose stereo with a Kenwood GPS/Bluetooth unit. I disassembled the steering column to fix the pivot pins.
It's been a long journey. It's hard to believe that it's going on 31 years old. I can't imaging not having it.
If only I could remember to have the tire shop put the tires on the correct wheel...........
Best,
