Hello from just north of Atlanta.
I inherited a 2005 Z51 M6 in Millennium Yellow from my dad when he passed away late last year. The two of us used to work on old muscle cars together, and it's some of my favorite memories from when I was growing up. Anyway, this car was his baby and he took great care of it. And I have to say, I love it. It's seriously fast and puts a huge smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. It's still stock, but I plan on turning it into my version of the ideal C6 (stroked to 402, headers, streetable but aggressive cam, new heads/intake, and all of the drivetrain upgrades that will be needed to keep it from destroying itself - all N/A for now and keeping the stock look). I also plan on doing almost all of the work myself in my garage (I'm not rebuilding the trans myself - haven't done that since a T4 in 1991, and it was slightly simpler). I have the luxury of having other cars available, so I don't mind it taking a while. I may not really know what I'm doing, but I'm a quick learner and I don't mind replacing things that I break as I'm learning. In fact, I actually blew up the rear end when my dad first brought it over to show it to me years ago. So far, this site has been a massive help as I'm planning things out. I'm just collecting parts and figuring out everything I need. I plan to work in phases so it never stays undrivable for long. I'm sure I'll be asking for a lot of advice. Just be patient with me. I plan to have this car forever, which means I'll probably need help and advice forever.
Thanks,
Rocky Dotson
Welcome to the Forum, Rocky!
Sorry about the passing of your father, but how nice that he wanted to leave your his C6 as a way for you to reminisce about "the father-son old times."
