Call me Ishmael
I do not own a Vette, yet. I saw my 1st one at the age of 8. Dad brought home a brand new 1974. I thought, and still do to this day it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. I know my mom did too. I could tell by the way her eyes rolled back. Many arguments followed, and at the time I thought it was about who would get to drive it on weekends. Well after two weeks, dad took it back to the dealership.
It wasn't until I was in my 20's that I had my chance to buy one. I was over the moon. I white1967 with black leather interior in decent shape. On the way to the bank to get the money, my wife's car mysteriously died. Having 3 small girls, and not wanting a part two of the towering inferno the money went into a mini van..
After that it was school, uniforms, college, then weddings, and the dream dying a little more each year.
I'm 55 now. The kids are grown, and have their own kids, and I've managed to hide away a little cash and have been actively looking for the last two weeks for my Vette,
It's been an arduous task to say the least. I'm a construction worker, and not well off by any means, but been looking for C3's under 10K and just cant find any. I've seen horrible body modifications, bird cages a rat wouldn't live in, a few rats in some. I've seen rotted frames, twisted frames and just some dismal interiors at best. So I've kinda given up on the C3.
I was never a fan of the C4, but started even considering one out of desperation. The more I looked, I started liking them. It wasn't a C3, but close enough.. I've seen a few that are just in awful conditions, and then today I went to see a 1996 collectors edition for 9k, that turned out to have more problems than the owner confessed over the phone.
So here I am. Still looking, and hoping I can read through some old posts, pick some brains, and maybe learn something about the C5's since they seem to cost as much on the low end as a high end C4.
Hopefully you guys won't mind a newbie asking stupid questions I'm sure have been asked before, or sharing any info on any white whales in or near Ocala.
Thanks,
EZ

Spend some time looking through the Sticky threads in the C4 and C5 General/Tech sections - lots of valuable info there. Good luck in your decision and welcome to the forum.

As Vetteman Jack pointed out, you will find great information about both of these generations here in the Forum.
