Hi
I remember it like it was yesterday. Sitting in front of my parent’s tube television, watching Apollo13 on VHS, which we had rented from blockbuster. I was 9 years old. Per historical accuracy, all the astronauts drove corvettes, and whenever they appeared on the screen, I was mesmerized. I asked my dad “what is that!?” Never one to pass up an opportunity to be comically cliché, he responded, “son, that’s a corvette.” Thus began my enfatuation then. I bought books, posters, models, hundreds of hotwheels and matchbox cars. About a month ago, I purchased my first corvette big enough to sit in.
Its a 2002 zo6 with over 120,000 miles on it. I’m excited to start making that number go up, but I haven’t been driving it because I want to do the valve springs as a preventative measure. That happens tomorrow. It’s got some type of aftermarket exhaust system, and a B&M short throw shifter. A previous owner was into either Hulk Hogan or Guy Fieri and installed yellow leather shifter and parking brake boots along with custom painted yellow and red flame valve cover covers, windshield wiper fluid resivoir, uhh intake cover thing, and passenger side engine bay thing. I’ll be changing that. Haha. The hazard switch is bad, the parking brake handle is missing and was replaced by some chrome-ish universal fit guy that has a date with the trash can. The parking brake needs some adjustment. The shifter goes into 1st, but isn’t super excited about it. It might need a new starter or theft deterrent relay, as it didn’t want to start until I jumped the starter from the TDR yesterday. It isn’t perfect, but it’s mine!
Anyways, I’ve already been blown away by the corvette community. Y’all are so passionate, knowledgeable, kind, and sharing. I look forward to growing my own knowledge to someday be as helpful as you all are. And I look forward to possibly meeting some of you at a cars and coffee or track day!

You may want to post your yellow and red engine bay covers in the C5 Parts for Sale area in https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-1997-2004-2/. Someone may want to add the color to their engine bay.
Enjoy your ride and save the wave!

If maybe just the valve covers only were flamed, it wouldn't be horrible. Just plain Yellow would have been nicer. Sounds like you'll have fun de-customizing and re-customizing to your tastes.
