Hello all
Been reading here for some time now, figured I needed to make the jump to join up
Been a big block guy for ever mostly 4x4's but started out with 73 Camaro back in the old days
Was also lucky to find a 70 Chevelle SS, yep it had the bad @ss 454 in it with turbo 400 too.
My last resto was a 74 Chevy Cheyenne Super 454 red with black interior
Now I have a 79 C3 Corvette it was my late wife's car It has a small block 4 speed, don't know much about it but it's not the original engine
I'm luck I have a 454 or a extra LS2 or LT1 and few small blocks out back that need rebuilding
I've been reading a few threads on swapping engines and I'm not sure about putting the big block in this C3
The LS would take big money and I don't have any experience with those engines and the wiring looks like a nightmare
Just wanted to interduce myself and get some other opinions
This is a real nice forum, lots of information and the guys on the team are outstanding
Thanks for letting me join up
Welcome to the Forum!
Condolences on the passing of your wife, but it is great you held on to her '79.
Sounds like you have a nice collection of spares you can use to build up your C3 into about anything you would like. Of course, the factory used big blocks in the earlier C3s so that may not be too difficult a swap. The LS engine would be great, too, and perhaps a complete wiring harness would make this transplant a little easier.
Lot of great members and helpful info in the C3 sections, and I am sure many of them have swapped engines with each of the ones you have available to you. This could be a valuable resource to help with you efforts. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-1968-1982-5/.
Thank you all for your kind words
This is a great site for help with any Corvette
Also this is my first Corvette, I can remember my first ride and drive in a C2 convertible
I was sold It was plenty fast going threw the gears
