Retired and getting back into Corvettes
My father had Corvettes and had raced MG-TCs with Dick Thompson in DC SCCA after the war. Have many Corvette stories from growing up with them like the time another SCCA attorney friend drove his new 67 COPO 427 from the dealer directly out to our house and my father drove it into a tree in our circular driveway when the positraction kicked in. Poor owner went stomping and yelling down into the hayfields in back of our house. Bourbon calmed everybody down. Car was a total beast with factory sidepipes so loud you could not converse. My father got insurance to by him another new one. Many more stories.
I flipped 13 64- 68s when in college in early '70s. Bought them for $1,000 - 1,500 and sold them for $3,000 - 3,500. Last 64 327/365 conv, renovated, was stolen and stripped without insurance. I had graduated and went to work as a young engineer/salary slave.
Now retired, following grandchildren to interesting places like Salt Lake City and Birmingham, AL renovating houses. Now interested in C4 purchase and researching those.
Daily driver is a Prius but don't judge me. Just trying to help grandkid's future. Also have Honda Element, the Swiss Army knife of small SUVs especially with 4 x 8 trailer attached. Wife's 50th bd present was a new 2004 VW New Beetle convertible in light blue like she once owned and matches her eyes. Snuck turbo and 6 speed tiptronic options in it.
Had fun building 1971 Honda CB750 cafe CR750 project bike. My father and I split a new one in October 1971 but he eventually sold it after I graduated and moved out. Did not have money then for British cafe/road racing exotica and Dad did want those mods anyway. So fifteen years ago I bought two basket case CB750s, took the K1 and modified it as if I had owned the original bike. Tons of fun and a work of art but it is a monster to ride with all the arthritis in my arms and hands. Utah expired vanity plate reads CRFE, get it?

Appreciated your intro story; what an interesting background. With your dad driving against one of the best of their era, I imagine he was a very talented driver himself!

Best wishes with your search and hope you have a C4 in your garage soon!
My father and Thompson were both novices in their MGs. Thompson went on to his epic success and my father raced a Austin Healy 100-4 and Jag XK120 all over the northeast tracks and hillclimbs with many nice trophies. He remained friends with his DC SCCA region friends for many years with numerous gatherings at our house. Another Corvette story was after one of their parties a stunning black on red C2, maybe a 62, showed up in our garage but my mother had a fit and back to the dealer it went. three corvairs followed including a white on black convertible my mother drove before my father bought a new white 65 327 coupe auto with tan leather, a beautiful car with many more stories…
