Alec from Quebec
I'm Alec, an engineering student just finishing up my Bachelor's. Just picked up my first Corvette! Such an impressive car at a decent price too.
Thought I'd give a little a little history of the cars I've owned as an introduction. Here's my first car, a 1992 Lexus SC400. Total rust bucket, but I fell it love with it right away thanks to the amazing looks, rarity, and V8 sound.
Sold that to get a 2005 Mazda RX-8 with low miles. What a terribly underrated car. It's insane how much car you can get for the price. Acceptable level of power, solid interior, exceptional handling and great ride. I wouldn't consider a single car to replace it short of the Vette I bought.
And last but not least, my new-to-me C5 Z06 with long tube headers! I never thought I would own an American car, but here I am. With the prices of the 90s Japanese cars I always dreamt of creeping so high, the price and performance of the C5 really drew me in.
What a beast this is, I haven't even done a proper pull to redline in this yet but the engine is on a whole other level than cars I've driven before. I love the pop-ups as well. I've got a few repairs to do before I put it through its paces, so any track time will have to wait till next year sadly. I'm sure I'll be totally blown away. Really pleased with it so far, but I'm a little bit worried that the RX-8's handling and ride ruined my standards for how a car ought to drive. If anyone has tips on how to make a Vette feel a little more responsive and/or improve ride quality, please let me know. I'm thinking replacing the 13 year old tires with some 200tw's with stiffer sidewalls is a good place to start.
Looking forward to getting to know my car better, and looking forward to participating in the forums too!
Alec

Definitely replace those 13 year old tires. A new set will improve the handling and ride significantly as well as being a lot safer out on the road.

A lot of great members and helpful info should you need any assistance in the C5 sections at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-1997-2004-2/.
Enjoy your ride and save the wave!
