With no plans on owning a Convette, I still have something in common with all you forum members, namely fiberglass. With minimal experience in body work (with metal cars), I took on a monumental Lotus Europa project that involves replacing the frame, engine, wiring, plumbing and miscellaneous fifty-five year old parts. To access the steel backbone chassis, the entire body had to be split, top from bottom, since Lotus' S-1 models had the underbody sealed to the top half. And finally, with all the crazing and body damage, I had to strip all the gel coat and order a couple of patch panels.
Sound like fun? Little by little, I am getting comfortable with fiberglass, but am extremely slow and wonder if my new joints will be strong enough.
Looking forward to improving the learning curve with this Forums' help.
