My name is Jack, but most call me JayDee. I have an interest in a variety of vehicles , Chevy, Ford, Dodge, and Studebaker. I have some old cars too stored, one 1930 Nash, and two DeSotos, a 35 and a 50, as I am an avid car enthusiast. I came here because I have a project vehicle I want to sell . But first, say hello to you Corvette lovers. Right now I finished working on another Chevy that needed a new timing chain the other day.. it left me stranded when the stock nylon cam gear teeth crapped out on me, so, I'm glad that is finished. Just a few minor things left to do. The car I want to sell is one I started, but only began then I had circumstances beyond my control happen, and only got so far, but still drove it. It is a Corvette you don't see as often, as I went to Carlisle a few years back, and saw only one in the whole place, and was only being driven by its owner, NOT, in the show. It is a 1977 Corvette Coupe T Top L-82, W factory HP package and believe I am second owner. More about it later when I have time to place the add. I live in Colorado, but originally came from back east. Today was a nightmare & very scarey ,as we awoke to 70- 110 mph winds, and by noon, some power lines had blown over, and suddenly, by this afternoon, burned down over 700 peoples homes. It would have Burned ours, except as luck would have it, the wind blew in the opposite direction away from us , but, we could see it burning like a blowtorch from in front of our house. Our prayers go out to ALL the victims tonight now instantly homeless right after Christmas, and not but 8 years ago we had a 500 year flood. It was not until I was flooded out, that I realised how difficult it is dealing with FEMA. I hope you never have to experience it first hand, but I digress. So hello, and please watch for my add later on. Lots of people lost their pets, that evacuated not thinking , leaving them, then the fire police wouldn't let them go back, consequently.... their pets perished in the fire. To me that was the very saddest footnote of all.

Welcome to the forum. Glad your home was spared from the fires - I have been reading about the blazes in CO and my condolences go out to those that did lose their homes.

Default Thanks folks.

On the fire, today they are unsure it was a downed power line, they are investigating arson. Said it started in Eldorado Springs then moved to Marshall which is a tiny community a stones throw away. From there it seemed impossible to have spread on its own without a fire trail, so very suspicious to say the least.
This fire stopped very close down by Lars Grimsrud' s that is IF he still lives in Lafayette Co. So you might want to check on him.
According to what I have found , at one time he also lived In lousiville, which is very close to lafayette. If anybody knows, please post it. I shop the Costco in Superior, but it was damaged, and the TARGET next door burned down...and it was a huge store. Old town superior was a total loss.
My neighbor has a mom who lives close to there but many houses around hers were completely gone, but hers was spared. That's just how fires are at times. The fire departments were virtually helpless. It wasn't until the wind died down that night that they could do anything. TODAY in the afternoon, it began to snow, at 9:45 presently there is maybe 6" on the ground. This will extinguish hot spots tonight that are still burning.
if the winds had changed , I would be homeless today. There are places to donate to help the thousands whose lives have been destroyed. I would be careful to be sure it is a real place and not a scam, so if anyone wants to help out, you might call the governors office( Gov. Jared Polis), or The major News Stations in Denver , to get a list of valid places to send help. We have a lot of scammers here, as I guess there are most everywhere, like there are here when you post something for sale. So please be careful to exercise caution, and many thanks again for the greetings + salutations ....JayDee

Default Update about the recent fire....epilogue post on the subject.

It snowed yesterday through last night , helping put out the various still smoldering hot spots, a day late( almost a foot on the ground today).
Upon investigating cause of this huge fire, it was determined today upon reinspecting evidence at the scene of origin, that...it was NOT related to a downed power line as previously reported. What they found was a broken phone line, ,which cannot cause a fire.
They are bringing in the Feds to investigate, as citizens who took videos early on have released their videos as evidence, but this reminded me of the California fires set nearly every year , during the seasonal Santa Anna winds.
Footnote: one woman was given her fathers valuable Art painting collection, all of which were totally destroyed. Today the house is unrecognizable. She was so visibly shaken and sobbing on the news, that she didn't think to take even one of the paintings with her prior to fleeing, and stated that, all she has left now is her,, and her husbands lives, and her grown children. You never realise the impact of such traumatic experience , until it is you who is the one who loses everything.
Unsure if any corvettes were burned, but .....there were LOTS of vehicles totally destroyed on the slabs where garages previously stood looking, left like empty burned shells of civilian vehicles in the aftermath in a war zone. YouTube has videos if you want a dose of reality.
FYI : Lars said today, he does NOT work on 1980 + carbs w/ computer related features ,for my 86 Suburban project (question I posed to him yesterday) , but only pre 1980 Quadrojets, as this I was unaware of , and did not mention anything relative to my fire inquirys,.... so , must mean, he is OK.

Welcome to the Forum, JayDee and best wishes with your upcoming C3 sale.
Glad your house was spared, and appreciate your concerns for those who lost so much!
Thanks, also, for your heads up about bogus fund raisers. What a shame some will sink to this level.

Many thanks to all well wishers. I have been busy with another vehicle, so haven't had time for the forum lately, but did see an super interesting article about an early pre corvette type olds 88. If anyone is interested in reading it, I found it on google, and hopefully I can post it here successfully. More about my car I am considering selling later. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/t...id-180348.html

Turns out about the fire we had , a guy here from the ucla that was a professor had threatened to kill another professor, and also threatened to burn the town down prior to it burning down. Well he was here before the town burned but threatening by the internet but LA police didnt warn us soon enough, he has been arrested and is facing 20 yrs in prison, but the way the fire burned was identical to those in california during the Santa Anna winds seasons. Coincidence ? I don't think so. His family claim he has mental issues, but that is likely a ploy to use as a defense ,but also tried to purchase a handgun just before, and was denied, threatened he was going to kill others possibly students, by shooting them. You can look up the story, personally I feel he set the fire here. Whether they can prove it is another thing.

On another interesting subject about corvettes, I found this one interesting for those who are not purists: https://www.thedrive.com/news/44137/...-how-he-did-it
lower below the article , i found another about a guy who added a drop hitch to a C-4 to pull his race car that was interesting. I was a machinist and enjoy stuff like this. Sorry I am still too busy to post the C3 L / 82 I want to sell.
