Hello all. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the info and guidance on this forum while researching and finally buying my first vette: A 2013 Grand Sport coupe in Night Race Blue with 23k miles on the clock. Coming from the BMW world and finally getting my crusty old project truck reliable, it was time to keep climbing the ladder to my next daily. And not a moment too soon based on the current market and trends toward small displacement, boost, electrification etc. Time is running out for cars like this, so when I found the right one I had to act fast. There aren't many idiots buying a rwd v8 sports car in December, but here we are.
Corvette has always been a dream car of mine, right next to the Porsche 911. I always figured I'd have one eventually, but last fall "eventually" became a serious search. I drove the electric Porsche Taycan S at a dealership launch party. Holy hell is that thing good. So good that my overwhelming thought the whole time driving it was "this is the end." They've cracked the code folks. Far from the other numb and clinical electric cars on the market. It's got soul, performance, refinement, and does everything well. Sure it's expensive but that tech is out there now. Like I said, time is running out.
That's when I knew "eventually" couldn't wait anymore. I needed something naturally aspirated and violent while it's still allowed and/or available. I test drove a few C7's in my budget and they're great, but I've always loved the curvier, classic styling of the C6, and had to have the wide body GS. Not to mention the bulletproof ls3 and 6 spd auto are perfect for reliable daily driving. I know I know it’s not a manual but honestly, daily driving a manual in and out of Boston sucks. Ask me how I know. I did it for years. Anyway, sitting in it just felt right. You know? Like putting on a favorite pair of jeans.
And so I've been driving it ever since. Yes, a daily driven Corvette GS in New England. Rain, shine, even a little light snow. Unfortunately no one makes winter tires in these sizes but in case anyone were wondering, I can fully attest that the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 all seasons are a marvel. If the weather gets really hairy I have the truck but otherwise this car is going to see hundreds of thousands of miles. I don't see myself ever selling or trading it. I'd rather pay it off and leave it to the kids as a piece of internal combustion and sports car history. I get a lot of stares driving it in winter but that's what cars are for. Driving.
So that's it. If you've read this far I appreciate you. If you contributed to the forum and helped my research thus far, I appreciate you even more! Drive on!
Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your C6 GS!
Congrats, too, on making your C6 your daily driver. Although our NC weather is not as bad as yours, we used a C4 as a daily driver for years in sun, rain, or snow. With the right tires (and a little sensibility, sometimes), it is doable - although C4s were a little more tail happy than newer generations.

Thanks! And yep I tell people the same thing. All you need is good tires and good sense to drive just about anything in winter. A friend of mine came out of work as I was brushing snow off (we got a bit of a squall Super Bowl Sunday) and he mentioned that he’d never actually seen snow on a vette lol. I didn’t know we were getting that much (maybe 5 in) and the roads were a mess but it got me home just fine. Tires felt great. My driveway on a hill was a different story lol. That was the very upper limit of what I’d take it out in though. Forecast called for one inch and betrayed me, naturally.
