Hey guys this is going to be my first Corvette. It is a 98', soft top, auto, with 39,000 miles on it. My neighbor is the original owner and has garage kept it all of it's life. I am very excited to have my first Corvette. A little background on me is I am 25, live in Socal in the OC area, and I have a bit of experience wrenching from working on my 01' Tacoma 4x4. It needs the AC recharged, and the headlight motor is making some noise but it still works. Hoping to figure out how to diagnose exactly what it is on here, or a thread on how to replace it myself. I technically don't own it until Tuesday, as the bank has the title and is closed until then. I'm already over the moon in excitement.
Looking forward to making new friends, and learning all I can.

Welcome to the Forum, Nick, and congratulations on your upcoming C5!
Lot of great members and helpful info in the C5 sections at: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-1997-2004-2/.
It initially sounds like your plastic headlight gear may be starting to go out. You will get a growling or grinding noise when the lights are going up or down. Pretty easy fix, but be sure and get the bronze replacement gear instead of another factory plastic gear. If you search in the C5 area you should find several discussions about this repair and there are also several helpful YouTube videos showing the gear replacement.
Enjoy your ride and save the wave!
@Route99 Thanks I'm super excited to start driving it! It does sound like a grinding noise, perfect I'll look for that. Thanks for sending me in the right direction, I'm new to Corvettes.
Is there a Corvette wave?
