Good day all, full name is James Dean Martin, 41, father of two daughters, Air Force Security Forces Veteran, Iraq, Afghanistan veteran, and owner of two corvettes in my life so far. My first vette I was lucky enough to get at the age of 18 when I was a manager at Mcdonalds and I thought I was hot stuff. That corvette was a 1985 two tone silver over gray with red interior. Loved the car so much, only had one incident with it (forgot to latch the targa top) and had it blow off going down the road, shattered the glass. Lucky for me my dad's cousin is a corvette mechanic and ordered me a newer top that wasn't glass. I sadly got rid of the car when my girlfriend at the time became pregnant not long after. My corvette that I have now is a 2008 base model LS3 6 speed, millennium yellow with black interior. I bought it with 88,000 miles, from a dealer in Jacksonville, Florida. It was bought new in Florida (Sarasota I believe) and was in possession of the same owner most of the time when it went through a couple of auctions, briefly went up north to an auction and ended back down to Florida where I bought it. I got the vette at a good price but sadly it wasn't in the best of conditions but my idea was to bring it back to life the way it deserves to be. The paint is all faded on top, looks like someone put a new yellow spoiler on the back that doesn't match any yellow on the car, replace the fuel pumps (leaking), the rear view mirror you couldn't see out of, the driver side mirror, the fluid had burnt and the mirror was all brown, defrost vent was cracked and broken in several places, front wheels are curb rashed and third gear seems to have a synchro issue. I have added all new parts with the exception of paint to bring back a nice appearance.

I love corvettes, always have since I was a young kid and I don't ever want to get rid of this one. Sadly it has been at a corvette shop in Melbourne, Florida for about 4 months now, waiting for my new long tube headers and x-pipe to be put on. Not the installers fault, the seller of the exhaust sent me the old design and is not cooperating on resolving the issue. Beyond that, I do race the vette on occasions. Auto crossing mostly but I have participated in track day at Nelson Ledges raceway in Ohio. I am part of Chin Track Days and plan on racing at Daytona and Sebring in the coming year. Nice to meet everyone and am happy to be part of this group. I will attach some photos of my vette.

Powder coated my wheels black, turned out really good for doing it myself.

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on your C6!
Sounds like you have a handle on resolving the issues you have faced so far with your Corvette. Hopefully the header retailer will finally put on the “good guy” hat and take care of the incorrect headers. Perhaps the actual manufacturer can exert a little leverage with the retailer.
You will find lots of great members and helpful info in the C6 sections at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-2005-2013-14/. And if you try the paint work you may find useful info in https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/paint-body-138/.
Thank you for your military service!

East Tennessee, my grandparents, when I was real young, lived in Chattanooga, we lived in Huntsville, Alabama and used to go there on weekends.
