Thanks folks. I bought my ‘64 because back in 1968 I bought a rebuilt one from a local salvage yard but had to return it - couldn’t afford the insurance. 50 some years later I found this one & fell in love. The ‘68 came shortly thereafter. And then the Z06. Had 3 Porsches & am down to 1, my wife’s 914. I don’t miss them. I have a mixed collection; a ‘64 Alfa 2600, ‘73 xke, ‘65 gto, ‘56 Chev 210 2dr wagon, ‘65 k code mustang & my other fav, a ‘65 sunbeam tiger. I’m a serious car *****!

Default What's not to love?

My username says it all. I don't yet own a Corvette, my username is my goal, to own one C4 (1C4) (soon)

I've always loved and on occasion owned sports cars. Sharing the top spot on my Holy Grail list was a 69 convertible. I always watched from afar (very far) because they, and the others a little lower on my list were always way out of my affordability range.

I'm going to do something I never thought I would do in my lifetime; hurl some kudos Mark Zuckerberg's way. Whenever the little notification light on the Marketplace icon lit up on Facebook, I always clicked on it just to see whatever completely absurd thing the Facebook algorithm thought I might be interested in buying this time (best ever: four 1x4 by six foot teak planks...for $800???) Then one day it went "click" -pause- "that can't be right" but it was. A 1987 Corvette that, by real life, everyday car standards (not show standards) was primo. Great paint, an interior that had obviously been occupied but was not only intact, the colors were still bright. The engine pics looked like something you would expect to see on a three year old car. And 67,000 original miles. And the price??? $6,200. For what one would expect to pay for a six year old Hyundai with 106,000 miles on it I could have a gorgeous piece of machinery that can go 150 mph. Well, I had an empty garage bay, and six grand, but as soon as I started shopping I learned that even in the 6-10k range I can be picky. So here I am. I'll be driving an hour (yay, only an hour this time) to look at one Tuesday yet again. And to prove I'm not some Polyana, I will say I'm very, very unhappy with the fact that whatever I end up buying, it's going to be an automatic because I assume, of some genetic anomaly, original Corvette owners of this era couldn't figure out how to push a clutch pedal. Automatic, yuck. Oh boy, this got long, sorry folks.
