Default A new victim !

Well, here I am at age of 64.9, just before signing up for Medicare, fell victim to the beauty of the Corvettes finally...

I am a small business owner here in our beloved(!) state of CA. If you look at a map I am almost right in the center of an imaginary horizontal line that connects the Monterey Bay and Yosemite. One hr to drive either one of them. Hot summers with a lot of 100F+ days in my hometown but thankfully a 60F coastline is just an hr away to drive in those days that makes you feel like you're "well done steak" when outside for more than 15 minutes.

As my handle reflects it, I am a Captain by profession (Merchant Mariner type) and I own a Whale Watching tour company with my business partner.

Here are few of my interests, hobbies, etc. Who knows some of you may share one or more of them...

I am:
- a Private Pilot
- an Extra Class HAM
- a Certified Deep Sea Scuba Diver
- an Ex-NATO Navy Officer (not in US Forces but served at a US AirForce Base in the Middle East and a Desert Storm Veteran and arrived in US as a legal immigrant in 1992 (and a US Citizen since 2000 )
- involved in competitive target archery "Compound Indoors style"
- Volunteer with my City's Police Department
- Motorcycle touring, but currently in process of ending that chapter by selling my 2022 BMW R1250GS Adventure in exchange of replacing it with a Corvette so my dear wife can tag along!!!
- A soccer fan since I am from the other side of the pond. ( I am sorry !!! )
- Fly Fishing
- Also a golfer but in my case the game I play on the course should be called "where the damn ball went"... Still fun to drive those golf carts right?

Oh and if you didn't get it by now; I also like to talk a lot! I think that's enough for now...

I do not own a Corvette yet but since two weeks I was looking at many prospects. Due to me not being related to Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk, and not being an outlaw to rob a bank, owning a C8 is out of question for me.
So I've focused on C6 and C7 models and narrowed down it into the two nominees. In 3-4 days one of them will be parked in my garage hopefully but which one will depend on what experienced Vette owners here will advise me to do.
That will influence only the 49% of my decision and my wife will influence the other 49% BUT the remaining 2% is purely my own decision darn it! After all I am a man!

So please look for my upcoming posts filled with newbie questions regarding the Vette models I am interested in and help me if you can.

Again hello to all and I hope someday, somewhere on the road we meet!
Take care,

UPDATE : As of 3/13/2023 I became the owner of a 2014 LRG Corvette Stingray Convertible 3LT w/A6...

Welcome to the forum and interesting life you have led. My advice would be if the C7 is in great shape and has the options you want, go with it. But, you will need to drive each model and see which one really calls your name.

Welcome to the forum, Jim!
You have a very interesting and varied life - congratulations. I can relate to your golf style; instead of 14 clubs and a few *****, I play with a few clubs and 14 *****.

Welcome! I've got yours similar problem around C6 or C7... here in Italy the C7 is most rare than c6 and... I'm waiting to find the last Corvette with front engine and MT I bought a Corvette C7... one of the most thing better than C6 is the luxury of interior!
However, the C6 still a great car (above all the C6 Grand Sport)
