Hello everyone, just bought a C5 and named it Baloo.
Baloo is a 2003 C5 hatchback in Electron Blue with a manual transmission and Z51 options. It has 180k, but I got a good deal, it is bone stock and had a single owner until 2023 when the guy I bought it from had it for 3 months.
Baloo needs work, but Im in no rush, every car Ive owned (over 40) has needed some work before I release it back into the world.
Ive wanted a corvette since August 1997, but it didnt start with a C5, I was 14 and found an issue of Super Chevy at the grocery store with a feature of a white 1953 with flames on it. Thats when I discovered corvettes and started diving in. The C5 was fresh at that time and after all my research about every generation of corvette it blew my mind. Ever since then it has been my ultimate goal.
I have never owned a Corvette before, my automotive journey has taken me in many different directions, mostly Toyota MR2s and a couple of F4 trans ams. But then I realized that with every car I tried something was always missing. When I found myself thinking about what was next for me I realized I always compared everything to the C5, my long lost Corvette dream. So I decided now was the time, an important detail is that my wife has been sick of my car juggling for years, I had told her some years back that if I ever bought a Corvette that would be my last car.
So when I told her it was timez she didnt believe me, which is understandable. But Baloo and I are here for the long haul.
For now, Baloo is home after a 400+ mile drive down from the bay area of California. Let the adventure begin.
